Functions of FCSCL

To achieve its goals, the Foundation, under the direction of the Board of Trustees, performs the following activities:

1. To promote the use of compute-intensive technologies, advanced communications and technologies related to knowledge society between public and private institutions of Castile and León.
2. To promote and cooperate in joint activities of the agents belonging to the Regional System of Science-Technology-Company-Society.
3. To collaborate on specific activities from a sectoral perspective, in order to improve competitiveness of companies in Castile and León.
4. To develop the infrastructures and equipment needed to achieve the aims.
5. To provide all services and manage centers related to the purposes of the Foundation.
6. To provide information services, advice and help documentation and technical training in the activities within in the scope of its goals.
7. To promote and encourage collaboration and corporate activities in the fields related with the foundational goals.
8. To collaborate and participate in the formation, activities and goverment boards of other institutions with similar goals.
9. To develop collaboration and cooperation programs with other centers, universities and institutions that contribute to better accomplish its goals, holding conventions and arrangements for carrying out the tasks within its competence.
10. In general, any other activity that is suitable for achieving the goals pursued by the constitution of the Foundation.

The Foundation of Supercomputing Center of Castile and León has participated and participates actively in different tenders and projets (i. e. National Plan for R&D (2008-2011), Fundamental Research Program, sub-program Fundamental Research Project non guided) in which has been recognized by the Ministry of Education and Science – General Direction of Programs and Knowledge Transfer Public Research Organizations.

The Foundation focuses its goals on improving the research tasks of the university, research centers and companies in Castile and León, promoting innovation actions in the world of the knowledge society and providing excellent working environment in the area of intensive calculation, communications and advanced services, through improved technology contributing to the economic development of the Community and improving the competitiveness of enterprises. Specifically it concerns the following activities:

• Presetation of all kinds of services and carry out all activities in relation to the goals.
• Attendance at Regional Government of Castile and León and Universities in compute-intensive-services, communications and knowledge society.
• Assistance and support to any public-private partner in relation to these matters, particularly to companies.

The Foundation may act in the Regional Ministers of the Goverment with the Universities of Castile and León or with other public or private institutions that relate to the activities listed, and with the interests or activities may be partially matched by:

1. The boost for the use of compute-intensive technologies, advanced communications and technologies related to knowledge society between public and private actors of Castile and León. This is planned to hold awareness workshops, seminars, conferences and publications for the goals of the Foundation.
2. The promotion of cooperation and joint activities of the agents belonging to the Regional Science-Technology-Company-Society.
3. The boost of specific activities from a sectoral perspective in order to improve the competitiveness of companies of Castile and León.
4. The attention from other activities not expressly mentioned in the foundational goals.

In this end, the Foundation will provide means to facilitate direct access of all stakeholders, through their own means of the information society.

To fulfill the above goals, the Foundation may perform alone or in collaboration with other public or private institutions, the following activities relating to non-exhaustive features:

• Providing all kind of services and manage centers or establishments related to the goals of the Foundation.
• Providing services of information, advice and help documentation and technical training in the scope of the activities included in its goals.
• Promoting and encouraging the collaboration and entrepreneurial activity in the fields related to the foundational goals.
• To collaborate and participate in the formation and cooperation with other foundations, universities and institutions that contribute to better accomplish its goals, holding agreements and accords for carrying out tasks within its competence.

In general, any other activity that is suitable for achieving the aims pursued by the constitution of the Foundation.
